Local Colour was founded by artist Carol Binns-Wood in 1989. When Carol first moved to the small village of Flesherton, opening and operating a fine crafts store seemed a wonderful alternative to running around to various craft shows to sell her wares. She bought a rough old commercial building and set about creating a shop and gallery space with an apartment above for her family. Her studio is at the back of the property in a renovated barn, with the garden between as an ideal spot for the Annual Art Garden, now in its’ 35th year. Local Colour has now expanded to showcase the work of 40 artisans and the adjacent gallery space, The Flesherton Art Gallery is run by her husband, David Turner.
Carol’s mandate with the shop is to show fine and original hand made items to fit any budget. From funky to elegant, classic to contemporary, there is something at Local Colour to delight or captivate you.
